Jane Goddard, Counsellor and Supervisor.

kimmeridgeWelcome to my website

Are you wondering whether counselling might help you? There are so many different counselling approaches out there, that it can feel confusing - it might help just to book one session to see for yourself whether it could be helpful for you. Perhaps you want to talk something through to help you work out your way forward, or perhaps you have a specific issue you want to focus on.
You may feel confused about the terms counselling and psychotherapy. When I trained twenty years ago this work was usually called counselling. But now many expect to call it psychotherapy.

It's hard to choose a counsellor in a hurry, and the first person you find may not suit you. Take your time reading these pages, and see what you think.

I am experienced and accredited in the following fields of work:

  • I work with individuals.
  • I use the Person Centred Approach
  • I provide supervision in the person centred and humanistic approaches.
  • FAQ
  • Please note: I am qualified and experienced in Psychosexual and relationship counselling. I have chosen to stop specialising (and maintaining accreditation) in this work. However I am still available to explore these issues.

    Fees and Times:
I work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between 8am and 6pm.

    50 daytime (9am to 6pm) for individuals.

No appointments in the evenings or weekends.

(Reduced fees occasionally available for individual appointments before 5pm).

  • What next?

Contact me to arrange a first appointment.
At the first appointment you can tell me what the problem is - sharing your story confidentially with someone outside your everyday life is often really helpful - then we can talk about how we might work on it. That way you also get an idea of what it's like having counselling/psychotherapy with me. (I charge my normal fee - see above - for the first session).

You needn't decide that day - you can go away and think about it. Later, if you want to continue, just phone or email to arrange more sessions.

Some people only have a few weekly sessions, some have many. We can talk about how many sessions you feel able to commit to, and then we can aim to work within that time.

You may feel that private counselling/psychotherapy is too expensive, in which case you could look at EACS, a local low cost counselling service

    I believe that:

    - change is possible
    - we have the power to develop ourselves
    - therapeutic change can continue long after counselling has ended
